There’s Something for Everyone at Tellico Village

It’s no secret that two of the biggest attractions to the Tellico Village community are golf and boating. Three championship courses and miles of sparkling lake make this a paradise for golfers and boaters.

Thing is, not everyone swings a club or pilots a boat. That’s why one of my favorite things about Tellico Village is the diversity of activities and amenities. If you’re into it, chances are someone has organized a club or activity around it.

For the active, outdoorsy types, there are sports and outdoor activities galore. For those who want to get in shape before hiking or hitting the tennis or pickleball (a uniquely Tellico Village activity) courts, the Wellness Center offers a fully-equipped fitness room, pool and classes for every fitness level.

Game enthusiasts, card players, wine lovers, gourmet cooks, crafters  and hobbyists also have a place at Tellico Village. The list of hobby and special interest groups includes something for just about everyone.  As an avid knitter and reader, I’m enjoying getting to know everyone in the Knifty Knitters group and helping to get a Mystery Book Club off the ground.

In fact, there is so much going on in the Village that it could be a challenge to find out about everything – if not for the New Villagers Club. When I moved to the Village in October, I made myself go to the next New Villagers meeting. I’m not the most outgoing person, and it can be a little intimidating to walk into a room full of strangers, especially as a single person. But I was barely in the door before I was warmly greeted and assigned a “mentor” to guide me through all the activities and introduce me to the organizers. Before the meeting was over, I had signed up for two clubs and three events!

Before moving here, I was advised that you can get involved as much or as little as you want in the Village. That’s the beauty of this community – well, in addition to the abundant physical beauty, that is! There’s no pressure to become a joiner if you’re not one by nature, but there are plenty of opportunities to get out and do things you enjoy at your own pace.
