New Tellico Community Playhouse Brings Excitement to Tellico Village

Tellico Community Playhouse 1

For more than twenty-five years, the Tellico Community Players have presented their play productions at offsite locations. However, that problem will be resolved this month. The Players are building a new theatre in the heart of Tellico Village in the Lakeside Plaza. The construction is projected to be completed by the first of October and will be celebrated with the October 16th opening of “The Red Velvet Cake War.” This production, directed by Len Willis, will be the opening play. The dates of the show are October 16, 17, 18 and October 23,24,25,26.

In this riotously funny Southern-fried comedy, the three Verdeen cousins – Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmy Wyvette – could not have picked a worse time to throw their family reunion.Their outrageous antics have delighted local gossips in the small town of Sweetgum, and the eyes of Texas are upon them. As this fast-paced romp barrels toward its uproarious climax, you’ll wish your own family reunions were this much fun.

The Players are also welcoming anyone who is interested in joining the organization. With the new theatre, more productions will be presented, and new people are needed to help out and to have fun. Theatre positions include acting, stage design/construction, set design, costumes, make-up, props, publicity, directing, tickets and many others. If you are looking for a new hobby, the Players provide an exciting opportunity that you will enjoy.
