Day Trips With the Tellico Village Garden Club

One great thing about Tellico Village is it’s truly in the heart of it all. Numerous vibrant cities are just a quick drive away, so getting where you want, when you want is seamless. Some popular destinations for day trips include Lexington, Asheville and Nashville and there’s nothing better than enjoying a getaway with friends.

Villagers in the Garden Club are no strangers to quick trips and a little fun. Last month, the group piled into a 56-person bus, with no extra seats, and made a day trip out of an expo in Nashville. Together the green thumbs learned about their common passion and enjoyed the excitement of Music City. Check out a recap of the journey and some highlights from past trips:

It’s a tradition for the Tellico Village Garden Club to take a trip to a garden-related show or garden display each spring. This year, the Club attended the Nashville Lawn & Garden Show, the largest and longest running show in the state. The show featured over 100 vendors, continuous lectures and demonstrations, a flower design gallery and live garden displays. Since this was the show’s silver anniversary, the theme was “Wine and Roses,” offering a wine festival, with over a dozen Tennessee wineries participating.

In addition to the garden show, our garden club members had the opportunity to take a side trip to the Gaylord Opryland hotel’s atrium garden conservatory and also to visit the Opry Mills Outlet Mall for some shopping.

In past years, the Garden Club has attended the Southeastern Flower Show in Atlanta, the Bloom’m Garden Expo in Franklin, Tenn., the Knoxville Botanical Garden, the Antiques and Garden Show in Nashville, and the Don Shadow Nursery in Winchester, Tenn.
