Kiwanis Club of Tellico Village Marks 16 Years of Service

Kahite Playground

“We started the Kiwanis Club of Tellico Village 16 years ago with 35 members,” said Don Whiteman, a charter member of the Club. “We are now 95 members and still growing” said Don “because of the enthusiasm of our members in supporting the children and youth in our area. Kiwanis International will be 100 years old in January, 2013.”

“You might say we celebrated the 16th anniversary of our Club by partnering with the Kahite community to build a youth playground for the families in the Kahite neighborhood shown in the photograph,” said Bob Bland, president of our Kiwanis Club. “The playground was dedicated to Stephanie Whitener (brief statement of who and why) “We now have over 50 programs all geared to the youth in our communities,” said Bob, “including the Key Club at Loudon High School, reading and tutoring at the elementary schools, ‘Back To School’ gift cards for children in need, Trout in the Classroom for children of the middle schools and the AmTryke therapeutic tricycle program just to name a few.”
