Good Neighbors Shoppe Gives Back

Good Neighbors Shoppe Store Front

Today we wanted to spotlight an organization that gives with all that they have everyday. In 2016, the Good Neighbor Shoppe gave over 2 million dollars in donations to Loudon County. Yes we said 2 million dollars! We wanted to make sure to toot their horn for them a little bit. Thank you Good Neighbors Shoppe and all the volunteers that give so generously of their time, talent, and treasure. We appreciate all that you do for our community and the surrounding area.

The Good Neighbors Shoppe is located in Lenoir City, Tn. just outside of Tellico Village. It is Lenoir City’s premier resale shop. They sell gently used and new women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, accessories and shoes, housewares, linens, books, antiques, collectibles and furniture.

In 2001, Loudon County, Tennessee, residents Gene and Roberta Burwell dreamed up a giving-back-to-the-community store: a simple shop where quality, gently used merchandise could be donated and sold, with proceeds going directly to Loudon County organizations and residents in need. Staffed by caring volunteers, the Good neighbors Shoppe opened its doors in 2001, in a small space in downtown Lenoir City. Each year the shop has grown in size nd profits, and is now considered a premier, upscale resale shop, highly respected in and around the area. As GNS grows and changes, maintaining  community credibility and respect is priority #1. The Good Neighbors Shoppe Board of Directors, which is dedicated to preserving the store’s original ideals, provides hands-on oversight. Each month the board thoroughly reviews the organizations and scholarship recipients that receive financial help. With over 200 volunteers (a large portion from Tellico Village), GNS recently opened a new 12,500-square-foot store at 420 Leeper Parkway (next door to the former store). The larger building includes a warehouse and spacious display area for additional merchandise. Through hard work and strong friendships, the Good Neighbors Shoppe continues its original mission of helping those in need right here in our community.
