Designated the “Lakeway to the Smokies,” Loudon County and Monroe County lies in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Both counties offer the scenic and more peaceful route to the nation’s most visited park, with five major waterways flowing through the country.

Fort Loudon, Melton Hill, Tellico, and Watts Bar lakes provide the picturesque settings for many of East Tennessee’s most pristine waterfront properties, along with the Tennessee River flowing through the county. The lakes offer some of the best fishing and boating in the U.S.

You could also call Loudon and Monroe County  the “Linkways to the Smokies” as we have eight golf courses located within our borders. Whether a novice or advanced, you’ll find our links will meet any golfer’s skill level, with signature courses designed by pro golfers and golf architects Greg Norman, Bob Cupp, D.J. DeVictor, Peter Langham , and Joseph Lee. Area retirement communities offer numerous options for recreation: swimming, racquet sports (including pickleball), golf, community groups, and exercise facilities. The counties have over 60+ miles of walking/hiking trails.

Here, you will have easy access to world-class healthcare, and nearby University of Tennessee provides opportunities for research and study, as well as arts and entertainment. Collegiate sports of all sports are available at UT. A minor league baseball team, the Tennessee Smokies, is located a short drive away in Sevierville, TN.

You’ll find fun festivals and celebrations here, among them are Rockin’ the Docks (on the water music events in May and July); the Fiddler’s Convention (in September, celebrating over 30 years); diverse street fairs, farmers markets and holiday parades.

Our natural resources, scenic beauty, convenient location, low cost of living, mild climate, low crime rate, and lifestyle amenities make this a desirable place to call home.
